SUE Collis YR 3/4 Goal Term One:
We are learning to communicate a clear message
As part of our Topic last Term we focused on BIKE safety. We decided to create a movie to show people what they need to do to be safe on the road. We storyboarded our ideas and then filmed and edited.
Goal Term Three: We are learning to communicate a story through moving images
As part of our cultural festival we looked at different Myths and Legends. In groups we choose one and re-wrote it in our own words. We then storyboarded our stories and worked as a group to create and animation. These are our first attempts.
ALEX James YR 4/5 Goal Term One:
We are learning about composition
As an art focus we looked at composition and what made a good photo. We took photos that made our audience think. We used a range of photography elements and then put them into comic life to display them.
Goal Term Two and Three: We are learning to speak with clarity and precision
We are learning to understand a written text with good comprehension
We used podcasting to motivate reading and improve oral language.

Goal Term One: We are learning to communicate a clear message through static and moving images.
Last Term we looked at how to keep ourselves safe. We identified many hazards around the school and then decided to create a movie message about Road Safety.

We are learning to improve our oral language skills:
We wrote speeches for the Cluster Speech Competition. To help us to speak with confidence and clarity we used podcasting as a way to practise our skills in speaking aloud.
We reflected on the skills necessary for making a successful Podcast. We used the Oral Language Progressions as a guide to develop a rubric so we could assess our skills e.g.clarity of voice, intonation, expression. We also had to develop our skills in producing a podcast e.g. use of music, jingles and quality of information in our scripts.
We used the rubric to assess ourselves and the other class podcasts.
Goal Term Three:
We are learning to improve our oral language skills:
Students can retell a Māori legend using the technology of animation
Students can use and combine visual features to communicate meaning
Students can explore and apply photography and video editing knowledge and techniques.
